What operations should not be done in the summer

In the summer, as a rule, many take a vacation. Someone goes to rest at the resort, someone prefers a summer cottage, some are going to make repairs at home. Well, there are people who decide it is in the summer to radically take care of their health and, for example, to finally make the necessary operation.

Is such a decision correct? Is it worth planning a serious treatment for the summer?

Serious surgery
Summer is not the right time for serious operations, especially involving large incisions and suturing. Of course, surgical treatment is not contraindicated in the summer. And if an emergency occurs, for example, acute appendicitis, then the operation must be done. But as for the planned treatment, it is better to transfer it to the fall.

The fact is that in summer, in hot weather, the risk of infection entering the surgical wound increases significantly. Microbes feel great at high temperatures and actively multiply in the joints. Moreover, they also receive a nutrient medium – a large amount of sweat. And even if the summer turned out to be cool (and this is not uncommon in our latitudes), it is not a fact that in the postoperative period the 30-degree heat will not break out.

In addition, heat is generally not easy to bear even for a healthy person, and it will be very difficult for those weakened after surgery. Accordingly, the wound will heal for a long time, and recovery will go slowly.
It is especially dangerous to plan summer operations for people suffering from cardiovascular pathologies. They have a real threat of heart failure, a sharp increase in pressure.

All this is confirmed by statistics: scientists from the United States found that complications associated with infection of an operating wound in the summer occur a third more often than in the winter.

Skin surgery
It is not recommended to carry out operations on the skin in the summer, especially in open areas of the body – to remove spider veins, moles, papillomas or other neoplasms. This also includes surgical treatment of varicose veins – phlebectomy, sclerotherapy, laser coagulation.

True, there are times when it is risky to delay the operation:

The reason is the same – in the heat there is a higher risk of infection and suppuration of the wound. In addition, ultraviolet rays, getting on the skin at the site of intervention, can cause increased pigmentation. As a result, an ugly dark spot will appear on the site of the removed mole.

mole has grown sharply, changed color, shape, structure;
the mole is painful;
mole is damaged and does not heal.
With these signs, you need to urgently go to the doctor and, if he recommends, agree to the operation, despite the heat.

Plastic surgery
Of course, plastic can be done in the summer, but then you have to spend all the warm days locked up, hiding from the sun. After all, what kind of plastic surgery do most often? Facelift, rhinoplasty (nose surgery), breast enlargement. All these parts of the body in the summer fall under the influence of solar radiation, and after the operation this cannot be avoided, otherwise complications may develop. So you have to spend the entire rehabilitation period (and it can last several months) to sit at home.

Yes, and the risk of infection in the summer, as already mentioned, increases, therefore, other procedures of aesthetic surgery, for example, liposuction of the abdomen, are undesirable during this period.

Beauty treatments
Beauticians warn that in the summer many procedures are undesirable, and even simply dangerous.
Such seemingly simple manipulations as facial cleansing (mechanical, chemical, hardware) and deep peeling in the summer can lead to infection and the development of pustules or the appearance of unaesthetic age spots and peeling of the skin due to the action of the sun. Even at home, peeling should be done as rarely as possible, and after it, protect your face from sunlight.

In the summer, whitening procedures are also prohibited due to the risk of sunburn and age spots.

Hardware cosmetology (laser resurfacing, hardware lifting, etc.) can damage the skin. Then the subsequent action of the sun can cause unpleasant consequences up to a burn. If, nevertheless, you decide on these manipulations, then within a few days after them, do not allow the slightest contact of the sun on the treated skin.

Often in the summer, women plan laser and photoepilation. It must be remembered that after these procedures, sunlight should be avoided for at least two, and preferably three weeks.

Beauticians recommend that all active skin manipulations be planned so that they end 2-3 weeks before the onset of heat. And to begin to improve their appearance again in the fall.
