Wet Problem: Causes of Heavy Sweating

Sweating is a very important and natural process to which all people are exposed without exception. It protects the body from overheating. But some people, even in the hottest weather, experience slight perspiration, while others experience the appearance of cold, sticky sweat constantly. What are the causes of hyperhidrosis of the whole body? And how can I fix the situation?

Sweating: what is considered normal and what is pathology
There are about 4 million sweat glands in the human body. Moreover, women have more of them than men. But it is precisely in the representatives of the stronger sex that the sweat glands function more actively. Their work is controlled by the symptomatic nervous system. The glands secrete sweat, which is a transparent liquid, which includes salts, water, proteins, lipids.

Why does a person sweat? The main function of perspiration is to ensure thermoregulation of the body. So, under the influence of intense heat, the human body begins to heat up. In order not to provoke overheating, the brain immediately demands to cool the body and sends a signal to the sweat glands. Sweat begins to stand out. Evaporating from the surface of the skin, it provides a decrease in body temperature.

Approximately 1% of the population has severe sweating, the reasons for which are hidden in the hyperfunction of the sweat glands.
Excessive perspiration due to physical exertion
Functions of the sweat glands
Thermoregulation is the main, but far from the only function of the sweat glands. Scientists believe that sweating performs a number of critical tasks, such as:

the removal of toxins from the body, thereby increasing local immunity and reducing the degree of intoxication;
pore cleansing, which serves to prevent the appearance of acne and comedones (black dots);
getting rid of pathogenic bacteria.
Norm or deviation?
Increased sweating can be caused by the following reasons:

treatment with certain drugs;
taking hot food;
excessive stress;
eating spicy foods;
active physical activity;
heavy fluid intake.
In these cases, perspiration is not considered a deviation. This is a common physiological process. But if a person experiences sweating for no reason, then the sources of the problem should be sought in the pathologies that occur in the body.

Excessive sweating: types, symptoms and causes

Increased sweating that prevents a person from living comfortably is called hyperhidrosis. Such a pathology is a symptom of many different diseases and in some countries does not stand out as a separate disease.

According to the ICD, hyperhidrosis is a separate disease, which is assigned the code 780.8.
Hyperhidrosis
Varieties of pathology
Sweating happens:

Primary. This form of pathology is sometimes called idiopathic or essential. Sweating develops in early childhood and is not a symptom of any disease. This is sweating for no reason. Scientists believe that primary hyperhidrosis is caused by the active work of sweat glands or an increase in their number in the body.
Secondary. Sweating is triggered by certain diseases.
In terms of prevalence, sweating is classified into:

facial;
axillary;
palmar;
plantar;
inguinal-perineal;
generalized.
According to the time course, the pathology happens:

seasonal (occurs only in extreme heat);
intermittent (makes itself felt in stressful situations);
constant.
Doctors distinguish 3 degrees of severity of hyperhidrosis.

Sweating is mild and occurs quite rarely. A person does not experience any social problems.
Sweating is more pronounced. Often it creates discomfort (for example, with a handshake).
Excessive sweating. It creates serious problems for humans (the smell of sweat, wet clothes).
Handshake sweating
Signs of Hyperhidrosis
The main symptom of hyperhidrosis is the appearance of sweat, which causes discomfort in a person. Sweating is accompanied by an unpleasant, pungent odor. Sometimes pathology is associated with a sudden deterioration in health.

At night, natural sweating usually disappears. A person is not nervous and practically does not move. But if we are talking about hyperhidrosis, then unpleasant symptoms at night can intensify.
Causes of sweating
Excessive sweating can occur under the influence of pathologies that occur in the body, or may be caused by household factors.

Household moments

The following reasons can provoke severe sweating:

Improper nutrition. The abuse of spicy, spicy food, excessive addiction to carbonated drinks, alcohol, coffee leads to increased secretion of sweat.
Poor quality clothing. Synthetic fabrics, poorly breathable, or off-season clothing provoke the appearance of hyperhidrosis.
Poor hygiene. Incorrect application of deodorants (for example, on a damp body) does not block sweat. The deodorant is simply washed off with moisture from the surface of the body.
Malnutrition
Medical reasons

So, in what diseases is sweating a lot?

Hyperhidrosis can be a symptom of the following pathologies:

Diseases of the psycho-emotional sphere and the nervous system.
